The Terms Defined
Standards relate to all K-12 students. They are broad statements that will apply to the student as they move through the Florida public school system.
Benchmarks are specific to 6th-8th grade students and are more refined than the standards that they apply.
Indicators are the most specific of the Student Technology Literacy Standards. They are similar to grade level expectations. At the current time, indicators for eighth graders have been created. These are the basis for the items on the inventory tool (currently being created).
Technology literacy is the ability to responsibly use appropriate technology to communicate,
solve problems, and access, manage, integrate, evaluate, and create information to improve learning in all subject areas and to acquire lifelong knowledge and skills in the 21st century. For more information, see the Florida Technology Literacy Profile
